Now start it up (make sure you put the plugwire clamp back on the wire for #1 spark plug.), aim the timing light at the top of your pulley and you should see that mark you made at the same point in each revolution of the motor. If you have a stock wheel, there should be some small indents on it around TDC anyway, but what you're gonna want to do to it is put a stripe with the white paint (or whatever your using) across both edges of the wheel so it's easy to see. Ive always been old school and did my advancing by the marks but this makes it so easy and you can. ![]() grab some white paint/white out/whatever (I used a housemates french nail polish stuff.) to mark your pulley wheel with. This is my first advancing timing light and I love it. Use whatever method you want to get the engine turned over to Top Dead Center (TDC) on the #1 cylinder. I checked all four wires this way to make sure they were all getting a spark. Hook the positive wire (should have a small clamp) to a positive power source, hook the negative wire (another small clamp) to a ground, take that large wierd looking clamp thing and put it around a plug wire, when that wire gets a spark, the light flashes.
